A much needed ministry on the Peninsula that provides support to those in need.
Report to our AGM
The Peninsula Food and Clothing bank operates under the direction of a board consisting of Tammy Waddell (chairperson), Rev. Paul Smith, Barb Pitt, Bette Ashley, Sharon Arbeau, Jo Burke, Rev. Douglas Painter, Linda Turgeon (secretary-treasurer). This board meets several times per year as needed. The Food Bank continues to be open on the third Saturday of the month and the clothing bank is open on the first and third Saturdays. At this time there are eight families who receive regular food boxes each month and others who receive food on an emergency basis. We gave out 18 amply filled boxes at Christmas. The Food and Clothing Bank continues to be generously supported by many groups and individuals, both on the peninsula and from neighbouring villages and towns. The United Church, St. Bridget's Catholic church, and Foursquare Baptist church support us regularly with food and/or monetary donations. Donations also came from Erb's Cove Baptist church and Kingston Outreach church. Trinity Anglican church generously gives us space in the church hall,rent-free. We continue to be able to have a food donation box at Sobeys in Quispamsis and Durnnians generously supplies eggs when we give out boxes on holidays. The market has donation boxes on some Saturday mornings for the Food Bank and we thank them for the donations that come in from those boxes. We appreciate the help for Aiden and Morgan Waddell who volunteer when needed. We continue to be so grateful for the hard work Tammy puts in each and every week to keep the Food Bank running smoothly.
