Our prayer of blessing over the shawls:
Dear God, we thank you so much for these beautiful prayer Shawls! Thank you for their softness and colour. Thank you for the love and many prayers that have gone into their making. You know we wish wellness, happiness and comfort to all who receive them.
We now dedicate these Shawls to you. We ask that you use them for your good purposes.
We pray that these Shawls will be laid next to those in bed or wrapped around shoulders and put over knees. May they remind each person that they are loved by God, that they are special, “one of a kind” creations. May these Shawls be a reminder of God's love and presence with us in good times and hard times.
We pray all this through Jesus Christ our Loving Lord. Amen.
Report to the AGM, February 2020
As we enter 2020, our Prayer Shawl Ministry begins its 6th year. We meet for an hour every second Monday in the Parish Hall where we share a time of fun and fellowship as we work on our projects. The 6 to 8 regular participants knit or crochet a variety of lap blankets and shawls, which, once blessed are given to those in need either at home, in hospital or nursing homes. This year we have completed 27 projects making a total of nearly 130 over the years.
Our group has also continued to support 2 students at the Bishop McAllister School and intend to continue this support in the upcoming school year.
We always welcome new members. You do not need to be an expert to make a simple shawl and we have a few talented knitters in our group who are always willing to unpick and untangle if we get into trouble! Also, if you know of anyone who would benefit from receiving a shawl, please contact either Sharon, Douglas or a member of the group.
Respectfully submitted,
Vicky Mathieson
